Changes in bathing, showering, flushing and garden watering habits can significantly reduce individual consumptions. For instance:
> sharing bathwater can save from 40 to 80 litres,
> reducing shower times can save 10 to 20 litres per minute,
> avoiding unnecessary flushes can save 10 to 20 litres per flush
> reducing lawn areas can save 30 to 200 litres per square meter per month
Collectively these savings can significantly reduce each household's consumption.
Because each household is different the Household Audit Challenge uses the household's actual billed consumption and usage habits to break the consumption down into its major components. The challenge then suggests opportunities to reduce each component
